Service Description
COURSE DESCRIPTION The pointed, flexible nib is a marvelous tool, capable of producing a multitude of expressive strokes. In this class, we will explore these unique qualities as we play with fun and creative pen strokes and incorporate them in illustrations. This class is perfect for those wanting to become more familiar with the pressure and movement needed for the pointed nib, but also for students with knowledge of the tool who would like to expand their design options. Using a selection of basic shaded strokes the student will learn the technique needed to control the downward pressure, and forward motion, and so become familiar with many of the same motions that are used in lettering. You will learn : how to create simple shaded strokes and combine them into ornamental designs how to use watercolor, gouache and mica paints such as Coliro how to draw seasonal motifs to add texture to the penwork, including holly leaves, wheat sprays and berries and other unique textures. how to design seasonal motifs to be used as borders, decorate wreaths, or to use as an ornamental element on its own or combined with calligraphy DATE AND TIME The class will be two sessions of 2 hours each on Thursday, Nov 30, and Friday, Dec. 1, EST (East Coast of US) via Zoom.
