Botanical Borders All levels Oct. 8 and 9, 11:00 am - 1:00 pm EST I have become very interested in vintage botanicals, and they have inspired the paintings we will be doing in this class. Referencing the works of European artists from the Renaissance, we will be creating illustrations and borders using the forms found in these images. In this class, we will use watercolor as our medium and several brushes, including several sizes of rounds and wedge brush. We will use both wet on wet and wet on dry tehniques for our painting, looking for a fresh, light and airy feel. You will learn : How to design an illustration to be used stand-alone or as a border How to blend and use colors together effectively How to use vintage images as inspiration for your own artwork How to use a small pointed and wedge brush to produce a variety of painted elements DATE AND TIME The class will be two sessions of 2 hours each on Thursday, October. 8, and Friday, October 9, EST (East Coast of US) via Zoom SUPPLIES several small sheets of Arches Cold Press Paper, or Hot Press, 90 lb. is fine, (Hot press is more manageable if adding lettering), or Canson Mix Media spiral bound Moon Palace Sumi Ink, or Walnut Ink Small round brushes, size 0,1 and 3. Princeton AquaElite is a good one, but any watercolor brush will work, if it has a nice point. A small wedge brush (size 6 or 8) several tubes of watercolor, in your favorite shades used for botanicals, my favorites are as Undersea Green, Sap Green, Alizarin Crimson, Quin Rose, Indigo Blue, Buff Titanium, Ultramarine Violet, New Gamboge, Burnt Umber, Burnt Sienna, or any collection of your favorite colors
